CIIN donates insurance textbooks to Rivers, Imo States

Insurance practitioners converged last Thursday at Golden Tulip Hotel, Port Harcourt, Rivers Statefor the 43rd edition of the CIIN Annual Education Seminar organized by the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN). The Seminar with the theme: “Synergizing Branch Operations and Insurance Awareness”, focused on the roles of Branch Operations in the effective retailing of Insurance products and services for the purpose of meeting the Insurance needs of the teeming population in order to achieve the growth potentials of the Industry and enhancing the Gross Domestic Product of our nation.
The seminar has been a veritable platform for training and continuous professional development of Insurance practitioners, with ample opportunities for knowledge sharing pertaining to technical and managerial subjects which are bound to improve the performance of participants in handling of insurance portfolios.

While declaring the seminar open on behalf of the Commissioner for Insurance, Alhaji Mohammed Kari, Mr. Leo Akah, NAICOM’s Director of Authorization & Policy lauded the efforts of the CIIN in promoting Insurance Awareness and Education in Nigeria while reiterating NAICOM’s resolve to continue to support any endeavor that seeks to further grow the relevance of Insurance in the nation’s economy.

Delivering the theme paper titled; “Synergizing Branch Operations and Insurance Awareness”, Mr. Edwin Igbiti, Managing Director, AIICO Insurance Plc, harped on the need for Insurance companies to embrace relevant technology and increase their Branch Office spread to areas where Insurance awareness and penetration are deemed to be low.

In another development, and as part of its continuous quest to promote Insurance Awareness and Education in Nigeria, the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CCIN) has donated 750 copies each of the Insurance Textbook for Secondary School to the Governments of Rivers and Imo States. According to the President of the Institute, Lady IsiomaChukwuma, the donation of the CIIN published books to the States is to show that the promotion of insurance education is not only a key to unlocking the huge potentials of our industry but also a means of opening the doors to the younger generation who represent the insurance practitioners of tomorrow. Lady Chukwuma further stated during the presentation that copies of the Insurance Textbook had earlier been presented to the Lagos, Ogun, Kwara, Edo, and Ondo State Ministries of Education while similar presentations have been slated for other States of the Federation.
