Since Sunday Thomas was appointed as the Commissioner for Insurance by the federal government, experts have being point-out what he should to take the insurance industry to lofty heights.

Adegboyega Adepegba & Co. Legal Practitioners, Arbitrators, Trainers and Consultants, while congratulating Thomas on his richly deserved appointment as Commissioner for Insurance of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, noted that it is optimistic that his tenure will usher in a new era for the Insurance Industry particularly in the new era of technolgy driven businesses, regulatory activities and practices.

The firm further hopes in the new dispensation, the laws guiding the practice of Insurance as a business and Profession will finally be reviewed and re-enacted.

The past President, Association of Registered Insurance Agents of Nigeria (ARIAN), Gbadebo Olamerun, expressed optimism that Thomas will succeed and leave very lasting legacies for generations unborn to follow, noting that what the industry needed at this critical time is “a complete insurance man who knows what it takes to be displaced and to be in place.”

Olamerun described Thomas as a “fully grounded insurance professional trained across board with unusual human understanding and meekness.”

With Thomas, Olamerun expects the industry to experience nothing less than “unprecedented monumental growth in a calm atmosphere with clear cut focus and focal direction and equity for all stakeholders and operators in the industry, especially the insurance agents.”

Alluding to the Holy Bible, Olamerun said: “Isaac sowed in that same year of famine and reaped a hundred fold likewise did Thomas sawed in that year of Covid-19 and got his long awaited confirmation.”

The Coordinator Emeritus, Independent Shareholders Association of Nigeria (ISAN) Sir Sunny Nwosu, implored Thomas to live up to the confidence reposed on him. “He is okay, but he should not use his period of acting to impress us. He must make sure that he continues in that way and listen to all stakeholders in order to take a just decision that will be right for everybody. I congratulate him on behalf of shareholders on his new appointment and also to let him know that he is there to serve us both shareholders and other stakeholders,” he added.
