REMARKS BY LADY ISIOMA CHUKWUMA, PRESIDENT, CHARTERED INSURANCE INSTITUTE OF NIGERIA DURING THE SECOND EDITION OF THE EXCUTIVE BREAKFAST MEETING ON WEDNESDAY 21st SEPTEMBER, 2016 AT GOLDEN GATE PARADISE, IKOYI, LAGOS.

PROTOCOLS
I have the utmost delight and privilege to welcome you all to the second edition of the Executive Breakfast Series that is being put together by the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria.

The Executive Breakfast Meeting Series have been packaged to periodically update professionals and practitioners alike, on the prevailing global issues pertaining to Insurance practice.

The theme of this Executive Breakfast Meeting titled; ‘NIGERIA ECONOMIC CRISIS: CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS FOR THE NIGERIAN INSURANCE INDUSTRY’ would be facilitated by DR. SHAMSIDEEN USMAN, who was at separate times a former Minister of both National Planning and Finance of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This topic comes at a crucial time, especially now that the country is technically in a recession.

I wish to commend the efforts of the Institute’s Secretariat and the MCPD Committee of the Institute for the success of the maiden edition of the Breakfast Seminar and for keying into one of the Institute’s primary objectives which is to encourage and assist insurance professionals to regularly update their knowledge in order to respond positively to changes in the business environment and meet the challenging needs of their clients.

May I seize this opportunity to appreciate and acknowledge STACO Insurance Plc. for partnering with the Institute in hosting this programme. It is therefore my firm belief that the Insurance industry will benefit greatly from initiatives like this and wish to solicit the support and participation of Insurance companies and brokers in subsequent editions of this series.

I wish to conclude this address by once again welcoming you to this event and to reiterate the Institute’s commitment to building and enhancing the knowledge and skill capacity of its members through programmes such as the Breakfast Seminar.

Thank you for your attention.

LADY ISIOMA CHUKWUMA
President/Chairman of Council
Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria
