Determined to enlarge the nation’s workforce and deepen the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), AIICO Pension Managers Limited, has created a platform to expose unemployed youths to rudiments of job search, expectations of employers in the 21st century job market to and ways to making smart career choices.

The firm at an event tagged: ‘‘Preparation Meets Opportunity: A Window To Excel’’, which held yesterday in Lagos, gathered youths from different parts of the state, to educated and equipped them through renowned facilitators drawn from to top human resources management organisations.

Managing Director, AIICO Pension Managers Limited, Eguarekhide Longe, at the event, said the workshop was conceived to bolster the relationship between workers and pension administrators, stressing that immediately an individual joins the workforce, a relationship is established between the worker and pension administrators that manage the workers’ pension contributions.

He stressed that one of the ways to develop the pension system is to provide jobs for the unemployed youths, adding that his firm had taken the initiative to get more people into the workforce by educating them on how to prospect for jobs.

“What we are doing is simply to find a way to assist individuals who are prospecting the job market. It is really a give back opportunity for us to advice, counsel and encourage them. If we want people to work, we must also assist them in getting jobs,” he said.

He noted that the workshop provided opportunity for job seekers to meet human resource executives, who will also after the event continue to interact with them.

Longe urged the youths to be focused in pursuing their dreams, stressing that with determination they will really achieve their visions, in spite the challenges around them.

The firm’s Brand Ambassador, Ms. Ajoke Silva, urged the participants to remain focused in the pursuit of their dreams, esteem their brands, adding that they have the needed potentials to succeed in their endeavours.
