Lagos State pays N892m pension accrued rights to 156 retirees

The Lagos State Government has paid N892 million pension accrued rights into the Retirement Saving Accounts (RSAs) of 156 retirees.

A statement by Mrs Ajoke Lawal of Public Affairs Unit, Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC) said the Governor, who was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Establishments, Training & Pensions, Dr. Benson Akintola Oke, said this, adding that Pensioners are a vital part of this administration.

Speaking earlier during her welcome Address, the Director-General –LASPEC, Mrs. Folashade Onanuga implored the beneficiaries to carefully go through the handbills on Programmed withdrawal and Annuity options provided by the State government. She explained the new development in the Programmed Withdrawal Pension benefit option as it relates to Pension Enhancement for those who had been on a static Pension for a minimum of five years, and also the issue of minimum guaranteed pension.

The retirees appreciated His Excellency for his consistency and requested that the process of issuing them Identification Cards be fast tracked so as to give them access to other benefits such as health care services.
