In a significant milestone for the Nigerian insurance industry, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA) Graeme Trudgill, paid a courtesy visit to Nigeria, marking a new era of collaboration and partnership between the UK and Nigerian insurance sectors.
During his visit, the BIBA CEO met with key industry stakeholders, including the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), and Insurance Doyen Olola Olabode Ogunlana, the Chairman of Scib Nigeria & Co. Ltd.
The Doyen at the meeting said: “The coordinated engagement with the NCRIB, NIA and CIIN, reflect an expanding horizons of possibilities and growing synergy between our local institutions and global counterparts, especially in Britain.”
The meeting with the Insurance Doyen Olola Olabode Ogunlana was particularly significant, given his recent recognition as a global insurance leader. In May this year, Olola Ogunlana was honoured with the International Lifetime Achievement Award at the BIBA conference in Manchester, a testament to his unparalleled contributions to the insurance industry over the past 73 years. This was the first time BIBA gave such an award. The prestigious award underscores his dedication, expertise, and commitment to the insurance industry.
There was also a visit to the Deputy British High Commission in Lagos. This visit marks a new era for collaboration between the UK insurance industry and Nigeria’s, as both parties seek to strengthen ties, share knowledge, and explore opportunities for mutual growth and development.
Trudgill’s visit is expected to foster stronger relationships, promote knowledge sharing and unlock new opportunities for cooperation between the two industries and countries.
