Another insurance industry event cancelled – ANZIIF Awards

By Ranamita Chakraborty

Due to the unforeseeable impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) has decided to cancel its 2020 Australian and New Zealand Insurance Industry Awards – two separate events scheduled later this year.

ANZIIF is a major membership, education, training and professional development organisation for the insurance and finance industry in the Asia-Pacific region.

In an official statement announcing the cancellation, ANZIIF CEO Prue Willsford said, “We are extremely disappointed to cancel our awards nights in Australia and New Zealand. Our awards night provides the opportunity for our industry to come together and celebrate success.

“Every year, the industry puts incredible effort and attention into their awards submissions. Right now, their focus is on providing support and assistance to communities in need during this difficult period, which is we have made the socially responsible decision to cancel both events.”

Earlier this year, the organisation hosted the ANZIIF InsurTech conference 2020 in Sydney from 19-20 February which saw a full house of InsurTechs, incubators and other insurance professionals.

During this time of uncertainty, ANZIIF said it will continue to engage with the industry to ensure their professional learning and development needs are supported through a wide range of online resources and services including articles and whitepapers in its members’ centre, online training and a new programme of webinars launching soon.
