Risk Managers Society of Nigeria (RIMSON) has postponed its 2020 National Risk Management Conference originally scheduled to hold on Wednesday, October 28,2020. It has announced December 9 2020 as the new date. The leadership of the Society arrived at the decision to reschedule the confab following the unfortunate security development in the country.

President of RIMSON, Raymond Akalonu, who disclosed this in a statement, also condemned the acts of vandalism and wanton destruction of lives and property which trailed the otherwise peaceful protest across the country.

Akalonu commiserates with the affected governments and the families which lost loved ones in the midst of the chaos of the last few days. The Risk Management flag bearer joins other well-meaning leaders in calling for peace and urgent resolution of the issues thrown up by the agitations, stating that …’at a time such as this, it is expedient to Jaw -Jaw rather than War -War’.

Akalonu also draws attention to the critical issues concerning the adoption of risk management measures as a way of life in order to mitigate the impacts of disasters if and when they occur.
