Ladies and Gentlemen.
I consider it a great honour to be here today with members of the Governing Council of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, the premier Professional Insurance Body in Nigeria. On behalf of myself and members of the Council, I thank you most sincerely for graciously accepting, our request to pay you a courtesy visit especially during this period where you are usually besieged with a lot of engagements.
Permit me to use this opportunity to congratulate your Excellency for the exemplary leadership he has demonstrated as the number one citizen of Oyo State. Your strides at bringing infrastructural growth and improved quality of life to the people of Oyo State are laudable. It is even more heartwarming when we take into consideration the fact that you have practiced as a certified underwriter. We are always delighted to see our own accomplishing great things.
Your Excellency, as you are aware, the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria is the body charged with the duty of determining the standard of skill and knowledge required for the ethical and professional delivery of insurance services in Nigeria. It is on this premise that the Institute continues to embark on the promotion of Insurance awareness and Education. As 49th President of the Institute, the theme of my Presidency, Advancing Insurance Education and Professionalism, serves to further drive the core responsibility of the Institute in the insurance industry. The goal is to unlock further, the abundant potential that resides in our noble profession and increase its acceptance as a profession and as a service offering in the society.
Oyo State is a key cog in the wheel of the institute. We have a very vibrant chapter here led by our very resourceful Chapter Chairman, Mr. Wale Oladebo, it is also one of our major marking centers. The feedback we get from our footprint here, gives us the impetus to continue striving to improve on our efforts in doing our own bit to ensure that the insurance industry takes its rightful place as a key contributor to the country’s GDP.
It is our hope that this visit will further strengthen the existing relationship between the Institute and the state governmentunder your able leadership.
We also solicit for the kind support of the Oyo State Government in assisting the Institute to achieve its objectives.
In concluding, I would like to thank Your Excellency, once again, for finding time to receive us today. We wish you more outstanding successes as you continue to steer Oyo state to greater heights.
