PROTOCOLS
Ladies and gentlemen, captains of the industry and distinguished stakeholders of the insurance industry. It is with a deep sense of pride and fulfillment that I welcome you all to the 2021 Graduation and Fellowship Awards Ceremony of our great Institute holding this year at the NAICOM Hall in the College of Insurance and Financial Management (CIFM).

The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) is tasked with providing the human capital needs of the Nigerian Insurance Industry and the Institute is dedicated to promoting the ideals of professionalism and executing its statutory responsibilities as mandated by Act N0. 22 of 1993 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
On behalf of the Governing Council and the Institute’s Secretariat, I would like to congratulate the celebrants of today, (7 Fellows, 245 Associates and awardees) on your induction as Fellows and Associates of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria and/or the receipt of Professional awards. Let me particularly commend our international graduands; we have six (6) from Cameroon, three (3) from the Gambia and one (1) from Rwanda. This is no mean feat and should give you joy and a sense of achievement. The professional qualifications is a source of pride to the Institute and its members. Today, I welcome you to the prestigious club of Insurance Professionals. Permit me to specially recognize one of our celebrants today, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, who on Thursday, 14th October, 2021 was physical inducted as the Patron and Honourary Fellow of our great Institute.

There is a need to for us as professionals to aggressively equip ourselves with skills and knowledge that would ensure that we remain valuable assets wherever we find ourselves. There is no gainsaying about the fact that only professionals with requisite knowledge, skill and technological knowhow will survive in this ever-changing world we have found ourselves. Completion of the Institute’s examination and your induction as Fellows and Associates of the Institute does not put an end to the quest for knowledge. I urge you all to take advantage of the Mandatory Continuous Professional Development (M.C.P.D) programmes offered by the Institute in addition to other post-qualification training courses. Similarly, the College of Insurance and Financial Management (CIFM) continues to offer relevant courses and programmes especially in the emerging classes of insurance business. I therefore urge you all to seize such opportunities to update yourselves and remain relevant in the industry.
Permit me to inform you that the upcoming April 2022 CIIN Diet Examinations would bring about the complete transition into the New CIIN Syllabus in all the stages of the examination. The Institute’s goal is to ensure that insurance practitioners stand out successfully and are well equipped to perform to optimal levels in order to tackle the current challenges in the business landscape.

It is pertinent to note that all certificates issued by the Institute remain the Institute’s property and can be withdrawn from the holders if there is good reason to do so. You are receiving the certificate because you have been found ethically and intellectually qualified to represent the Institute. This policy remains in force, and I sincerely hope that you will not create a situation where the Institute is forced to exercise its authority to withdraw your certificate.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is a historic moment in the life of the Institute. It is a dream come true because the CIFM represents the most valuable investment of the Institute. Therefore, permit me to appreciate the Board and Management of the CIFM for the beautiful ambience and state of the art structure in which we are holding the induction this year. We are happy and proud to finally bring CIIN induction home to our own campus.

Finally, I once again convey the warmest wishes and the congratulations of the Council to all awardees and graduates on this notable occasion.
Wishing you all a merry Christmas and a happy New Year in advance.

Thank you for your attention.

SIR. MUFTAU. O. OYEGUNLE ACII, FIIN,
President/Chairman of Council,
CHARTERED INSURANCE INSTITUTE OF NIGERIA.
