• Distinguished Governing Board Members
• Managing Director, Enterprise Life Assurance Company (Nig) Limited
• Our Guest Speaker, Dr. Olufunke Oyeneye
• My distinguished colleagues
• Gentlemen of the Press
• Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am most delighted to welcome you all to the December 2022 edition of Members Evening of our great Council, sponsored by Enterprise Life Assurance Company (Nig) Limited, a company that pride itself in its rich history and integrity. Enterprise Life Assurance Company (Nig) Limited has again etched its name in the good book of Registered Insurance Brokers in Nigeria by opting to sponsor tonight’s event which incidentally, is the last edition in year 2022.
At the appropriate time within the program, the Company would have the honour of addressing our Members. I can assure you that you have opted for the right time to address Brokers. It is my hope that Enterprise Life would extract significant value for this laudable investment in the relationship with our Council.
Distinguished Colleagues, may I crave your indulgence, this evening to state that it would have been my wish to personally attend this event, most especially, in honour of my Sister, Mrs. Funmi Omo and her management team, to personally and physically appreciate all your supports since the beginning of this administration, and importantly, in the light of the success recorded at our most recent events to mark the 60th anniversary of the Council, but situation beyond my personal control had prevented me. I may be absent physically, but kindly note that I am with you in spirit.
It is my honour to note that other distinguished members of our Management Committee, ably led by the Deputy President, Mr. Tunde Oguntade, FCIB are there with you.
Permit me to use this opportunity to appreciate God Almighty; that in spite of all odds that characterized the year, we are still basking in His grace. I must also appreciate you, distinguished members, starting from all our living ancestors, the past Presidents, Governing Board Members, the Management Team and distinguished colleagues for your overwhelming support, both morally and financially, most especially, during the celebration of our Council’s 60th Anniversary which climaxed with a special Jumat Thanksgiving Service held at Lagos State Secretariat Mosque.
There is no doubt that your support has kept us strong. You would recall that in the course of planning for the year, the Council, in its tradition highlighted some programs that would be beneficiary to members, in accordance with the tenure’s Thrust of Office. Some of these programs, which include our regular international business trips, retreat of the Chief Executives of member companies which was held in Epe, became a trajectory for the growth of the Council and its image.
I am delighted to report that the International Business Trip to Istanbul, Turkey was highly successful, in spite of the low attendance. I am certainly convinced that no delegate was disappointed by any of the activities in Istanbul. It is no more news that Members of the Council had been admitted into Turkiye & Africa Trade and Investment Council (TATIC) in our relentless efforts to broaden the horizon of Insurance Broking practice internationally.
TATIC is a professional organization that promotes trade relations and investments between Turkiye and countries of the African continent. It is the world’s fastest growing business network, from which our Council would extract significant value. We shall continue to root for better business opportunity for all our Members.
If there is anything that has occupied the minds of many members of the Council for a while, it is how the NCRIB could accelerate its value rendition to members. I like to note that the agitation of members in this regard was not wrongly placed, considering the challenges they face on all ends, necessitating immediate collective solution from the Council.
In addressing this, our team has further intensified efforts to make the Council’s training more relevant, affordable and accessible. Council’s trainings were quite strategic after identifying in clear terms the immediate and future challenges threatening Brokers.
Feedbacks from most of our trainings are quite impressive. It is on that note that I will like to personally invite you to take the advantage of our next training coming up on Thursday, December 8, 2022 on AML/CFT. For more enquiries, kindly contact the secretariat.
One of the major achievements of our 60th Anniversary celebration was the production of 60th Anniversary Book and Compendium of Registered Insurance Brokers. Apart from the intellectual materials and resourceful papers that the book contains, it comprehensively detailed the data of all our members. I am delighted to inform you that the Publicity and Publication Committee has been saddled with the responsibility to have the unprintable electronic version, which would be accessible anywhere in the world, probably, at a token.
However, for the delight of our members and their clients, we massively produced the book and are available for your grab. Kindly contact the Secretariat for further details.
It is the desire of this management that all the gatherings of Members would be intellectually resourceful, not just only on the professional lane, but also, health and other aspect of our being. It is on that note that the Council has invited Dr. (Mrs.) Funke Oyeneye, MPH, FPCPharm), a Public Health and consultant clinical Pharmacist, to address us on “How Silent Killers Kill Silently” , a topic intended to address those little and uncommon ailment overlooked by many to their disadvantages. I am certainly convinced that Dr. Oyeneye, who is always a delight to listen to, would do justice to this topic.
May I crave your indulgence to pay close attention to every detail and lets observe and adhere to advice from the specialist. May I appreciate our guest speaker for accepting to undertake this task.
Once again, I like to congratulate Enterprise Life Assurance Company Nigeria Limited. I am convinced that the Managing Director, Mrs. Funmi Omo would not forget to inform our Members on how far about her promise.
CONCLUSION
I thank you all for your presence at this meeting. I wish you a splendid evening.
