Kaduna State Government has approved modalities for settling the N15.57 billion pensions debts and death benefits of public servants in the state
Kaduna State Head of Service, Mrs Bariatu Mohammed, made this known on Monday in Kaduna after the state executive council meeting
She said the approval was for both the state and local government retirees.
Mohammed explained that N7.2 billion would go to retirees under the state government service.
According to her, 2,056 persons would get N5.7 billion pension and gratuity while N1.49 billion would be the death benefits for relations of 483 deceased workers.
She added that retired local government workers would be paid N8.35 billion made up of N6.13 billion as gratuity and pension for 2,299 retirees and N2.2 billion as death benefits for relations of 939 deceased workers.
NAN reports that the state government recently launched payment of retirement benefits to workers under the new contributory pension scheme. (NAN)
