Lagos State pays N582.19m to 109 retirees

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has released the sum of N582. 195 million to pay 109 retirees’ entitlements for the month of March, 2017.

A statement by Mrs Ajoke Lawal of Public Affairs Unit, Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC), stated that the State Government, through LASPEC has since the beginning of this administration paid 5,956 retirees from the Mainstream Civil Service, Local Government and State Universal Basic Education Board, Teachers Establishment Pensions Office and other Parastatals of Government.

The Director-General, Mrs. Falashade Onanuga, while congratulating the retirees at the 37th Retirement Benefit Bond Certificate Presentation Ceremony, held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Seminar room of the Office Complex, NECA House, CBD, Ikeja, said that the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) will be 10 years in Lagos State in April, 2017 and some activities have been lined up to commemorate a decade of the CPS in Lagos State.

The Assistant Director, Technical, Olawale Otun, took the retirees through on the benefit options available under the Contributory Pension Scheme.

The retirees were full of joy and praises to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for the choice of staff at the Commission whom they described as very respectful, friendly, yet professional and full of empathy.
