The National Pension Commission (PenCom) is assisting states that have embraced the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) on how to manage challenges associated with accrued rights to ensure retirees get the right pension benefits, Inspen can report.
Its Director-General Mrs Chinelo Anohu-Amazu, who disclosed this in Lagos, said the commission has deployed its states operations to carry out this assignment, stressing that states would be assisted in having a reliable audit that would help them ascertain the real accrued rights figures.
She noted that the commission has observed that most states are faced with the challenge of handling the retirees and those in the CPS. She said the commission intervention would help the states resolved their challenges and also align them with current trends in the pension industry.
The PenCom boss, stressed that most states are prepared to embrace the scheme, adding that the commission will continue to engage them on how they can bequeath better life for their workers through the contributory pension scheme.
