The pension fund assets got N2.51 trillion from workers contributions and return-on-investments from January to July 2024.
According to data obtained from the National Pension Commission (PenCom) the pension fund assets stood at N18.36 trillion as at December 31, 2023 and moved to N20.87 trillion in July 31, 2024, indicating an increase of N2.51 trillion.
PenCom stated the Retirement Savings Account registration count increased by 228, 120 moving from 10,191,400 in December 2023 to 10,419,520 in July 2024.
PenCom submitted that N13.18 trillion of the N20.87 trillion assets have been invested in Federal Government of Nigeria securities, with bonds gulping N12.37 trillion; treasury bills, N440.69 billion; agency, N29.65 billion; sukuk, N118.98billion and green bonds, N225.39 billion.
It noted that State government securities got N258.17 billion and corporate debt securities N2.25 trillion.
