PFOs retain N251.31bn operating capital, as pension assets soar to N20.23tn

Pension Fund Operators (PFOs) have invested N19.97 trillion of the N20.23 pension fund assets, leaving an operating capital of N251.31 billion, Inspenonline can report.

The National Pension Commission (PenCom) stated this in Unaudited Report on Pension Funds Industry Portfolio for the Period Ended May 31, 2024.

According PenCom the pension fund assets gained N440.79 billion in May, moving from N19.79 trillion in April to N20.23 trillion.

The pension sector regulator stated that pension fund operators in the month of May invested N12.79 trillion in Federal Government of Nigeria securities, stressing that Federal Government bonds gulped N12.08 trillion; treasury bills, N370.12 billion; agency bonds, N8.17 billion; sukuk bonds, N116.69 billion and green bonds, N212.17 billion.

It said state government securities got N264.35 billion; Corporate debt securities N2.19 trillion and money market instrument N1.93 trillion.
