218 families of fallen soldiers receive insurance cheques from FG

The Nigerian government has given insurance cheques to the families of soldiers and officers who died in the line of duty

– The cheques were received by next of kin to the deceased military personnel
– The federal government also promised that the welfare of all serving personnel with the Nigerian military will be prioritized

Next of kin to the deceased soldiers received insurance cheques from the federal government

On Monday, January 23, families of 218 deceased soldiers and officers of the Nigerian military were presented with cheques of insurance.

The cheques the federal government said were for insurance claims of the deceased personnel.

Making the presentation, the minister of defence Mansur Dan-Ali promised that the welfare of all serving personnel with the Nigerian military will be prioritized.

Dan-Ali said that igeria owes both serving and families of fallen deceased soldiers an ‘eternal gratitude, respect and prayers’.

He said also said that the life insurance claims paid over the years have improved.

While expressing satisfaction in the level of improvement on security in Nigeria, Dan-Ali said: “overwhelming successes in the fight against insurgency.”

He also assured Nigerians that there would be fewer military casualties in the years to come.

He further called for a minute silence in honour of the personnel who died in the line of duty.

Also speaking, the permanent secretary of the ministry of defence Danjuma Sheni said the cheques had been issued to the next of kin of 383 officers and men who died in active service.

Sheni said the ministry would ensure transparency and accountability in the payment of insurance claims to families of deceased personnel.
