In line with the change mantra, insurance operators have called on government at all level to procure insurance cover for their assets as done in other climes.

The Director-General Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) Kola Ahmed, said this in an interview with Inspenonline, stressing that the position of government in insurance growth and development cannot be overemphasized.

He noted that government remains the biggest buyer and that insurance enforcement cannot be fully achieved when the government which is saddled with the power to enforce the law fails to have insurance.

Ahmed said insuring government’s assets scattered all over the nation will boost the profitability of insurance business, stressing that the government often burdened itself with responsibilities which ought to have been carried by insurance operators.

He urged the federal government to show leadership by insuring all its assets and take enforcement of insurance laws to the next level.
