The Head, Technical Division of Fin Insurance Company Limited, Dr. Joyce Odiachi, has bagged Doctor of Philosophy (Management) from University of Lagos, Akoka, Nigeria.
Dr. Joyce Odiachi, who has high quest for knowledge, was born and raised in Lagos State, Nigeria. She obtained her Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) Degree in Insurance from the prestigious University of Lagos, Akoka, in 1999; and a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from the Lagos State University, Ojo in 2005.
In 2006, she proceeded to the University of Lagos for a Master’s of Science (M.Sc) in Management and graduated in 2008.
She is an Associate of both the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (AIIN) which she obtained in 2010 and the Risk Management Society of Nigeria (RIMSON) in 2017.
She obtained her Masters of Philosophy (M.Phil) in 2019 and her Doctor of Philosophy (Management) in 2021 both from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Nigeria.
She started her career with Transglobal Insurance Brokers in 2000 from where she moved to Signal Insurance Company Limited in 2004 as a pioneer staff.
In 2006, she joined Custodian & Allied Insurance after its merger with Signal and was there till 2008, when she left to join Zenith General Insurance Co. Ltd as pioneer underwriting branch manager for the Apapa branch.
At Zenith General, she worked in various roles undertaking multiple projects and ensuring satisfactory deliverables, over the 10years she spent, leaving in 2018 as Manager, Claims and Compliance.
She is currently the Head, Technical Division of Fin Insurance Co. Ltd where she joined in 2018. As the Head of Technical, she is both diligent in her work and committed to the profession.
An insurance practitioner with over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, Dr. Odiachi’s main area of interest, is sustainability of the insurance industry. She is also interested in grooming a high crop of quality professionals in practice.
Aside from being an insurer, Dr. Joyce Odiachi is also a published author with both local and international journals. She has served in various capacities at committee levels of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) as Auditor 1 – Offices Representative Committee (ORC); the Professional Insurance Ladies Association (PILA) as Assistant Education Secretary; the Nigeria Insurers Association (NIA) as Vice Chairperson- Marine Offices Committee (MOC); and is currently the Chairperson-Motor Technical Committee (MTC).
Dr. Joyce Odiachi enjoys giving back to her community and has demonstrated this in her various trainings and mentoring to her junior colleagues in the industry whom she fondly refers to as her “children”.
She is married to Thony Odiachi and they are blessed with children.
