NCRIB drums insurance awareness across streets in Lagos

Over 600 insurance brokers in collaboration with underwriters stormed streets within Alagomeji and Ebute Metta in Lagos to educate shop owners; market women; mechanics and artisans on benefits and values inherent in leveraging insurance to safeguard their lives and business from unfortunate
circumstances.

The event also provided an avenue for the insurance practitioners to keep fit and exercise.

The President, Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), Rotimi Edu, at the event, implored the general public to always seek the services of Registered Insurance Broker (RIB), adding that registered brokers are professionals and understand the insurance needs of the people.

He said about 600 brokers and 50 insurance underwriters participated in the exercise to give knowledge of insurance to members of the public.

According to him, “We are using the walk to mark the 60th anniversary of the council and at the same time, we are using the walk to also preach insurance and the importance of using insurance broker to close your insurance engagement because brokers are known to be the professionals in the industry.

“Brokers have the technical knowledge of insurance and they can help
you review your premium, they can help you identify your risk and various insurance policies, that is why brokers are very important in the insurance value chain.

Edu said the NCRIB insurance walk is to “deepen insurance and also to celebrate our 60th anniversary.”

“The walk is not going to be limited to road alone; we will also have it in the markets to educate the market men and women on the need for them to buy fire insurance for their wares and properties; the need for them to take group life insurance for their various groups,” he explained.

Edu said as part of the programme, the Council has initiated lawn tennis completion which he said will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the Ikeja Tennis Club.

“We want to use this platform to bring consistent information on
insurance and awareness to the Nigeria populace,” he submitted.
