Apart from the highly accomplished panel of judges, the Awards Nite this year will be graced by dignitaries from different walks of life. Some of them will be guest presenters to winners in the various categories. According to the Chairman of the panel of judges Ms Prisca Soares “I believe strongly that the Nigerian Insurance Industry can be opened – up through Pop-Culture and Technology popularly known as insurtech”.
Nigeria’s current demographic data shows that the Generation Z (Gen Z) makes up 40-50% of our population with disable income. To attract these block of people to the insurance industry either as employees or Consumers of Insurance Products and Services, requires intentional social platforms that resonates with them.
For so long, the conventional norm for pushing insurance conversations in the public domain has been through conferences and seminars. Whilst this may have worked for a segment of our population especially policy makers, we believe there is a sweet spot in using Pop-Culture as a means of changing people’s views and increasing the acceptance of insurance. That is the essence of the Awards and Consumers’ Nite.
Corporate Sponsorship for Commercial Exposure with Entertainers is the new normal for the 21st century business leaders. We are inviting Insurance Industry front-liners to come on board this train to further enhance their presence in the financial service eco-system. For reference purposes, banking giants like GTB and UBA have perfected the art of engaging their customers in the public through social platforms (with Entertainers) such as the GTB Fashion Hub, Food and Drinks Festivals as well as the UBA Market Place. These are mega events that draw new customers into the banking system annually. Whilst the insurance industry may not have the financial strengths of the banking sector, they must take baby steps in exploring Pop-Culture as they cannot afford to be left behind in the drive to deepen financial inclusion because they are a critical equation in the mix.
Nominations in the various categories will open on the 31st of July 2023.
