ARIAN elects Olatubosun Mayowa National President

The Association of Registered Insurance Agents of Nigeria (ARIAN) today elected Olatubosun Mayowa as its National President.

Mayowa is the Head of Agency Operations for International Energy Insurance Plc and former Social Director of ARIAN.

Other executives elected are; Ajayi Folashade, Vice President -:Leadway Assurance; General Secretary, Adegbuyi Adebola of Custodian Insurance; Assistant General Secretary, Uloko Sunday, Mutual Benefits Assurance; Public Relation Officer, Ogunwuyi Kayode, Mutual Benefits Assurance; Social Director, Odetola Jelius, Tangerine Insurance; Financial Secretary, Usalo Felix Heirs Insurance; Treasurer, Odunlami Daniel, Mutual Benefits Assurance; Auditor, Blessing Nweke, Heirs and Legal, Eze Chinonso.

ARIAN National President thanks members for giving him the privilege to lead the association, stating that it is time to reform and put agents back into focus.

According to him, his five priorities for reform are; reforming the relationship between their principal and agents, adding that he would enhance the relationship between agents and their principals that would lead the recognition of agents as major stakeholders in insurance business.

He submitted that he would work on a relationship that would fundamentally work for both parties.

He also promised to reform ARIAN fund, to ensure that the association executive account for their decisions.

“That’s why I’m committing to a more transparent term.Insurance Agents are diverse, dynamic and full of talent. Why therefore would we shy away from sharing with them our plans and what’s going on? I’m committed to an inclusive decision and collaborative team. I believe that any officer that is elected must be accountable,” he said.

He said he would also work on encouraging members to get to know one another better, enjoy themselves
more and ultimately build greater commitment to the association.

He submitted that he would .providea wealth and breadth of knowledge by getting speakers from diverse and interesting fields to increase outreach and reputation.

“i also wish to explore the possibility of moving some impactful trainings online, this would allow agents in capacity building to be more confident in the discretion and services,” he posited.

Last on his reform, according to him, is to reform the referendum and mechanism, allowing agents to have a greater say in Insurance Industry in Nigeria and Africa at large. “Furthermore, we must ensure that agency continue to improve, supported and expanded, with agent’s being consulted on its reform and direct application in the Insurance Reform Bill, I believe that agents should be able to voice their concerns and opinion on any matters through a referendum system,” he posited.

Council members of the association admonished the newly elected executives to live up to the confidence reposed on them.
