CIIN grooms future insurance stars in Bootcamp 5.0

The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) recently hosted a groundbreaking two-day event, BOOTCAMP 5.0, themed, ‘Growing Towards Mastery: The Journey to A Meaningful Career’.

This event designed to empower young insurance practitioners with the skills, knowledge, and mindset necessary to achieve a meaningful and successful career as they plan to become masters in their chosen profession featured series of insightful sessions on the theme.

Held on August 16-17, 2024, at the College of Insurance and Financial Management, Asese, Ogun State, the intensive program commenced at 10:00 a.m. with arrival and registration, followed by lunch, opening address by the Registrar of the Institute, Mrs. Abimbola Tiamiyu, and the welcome address, by The President/Chairman of Council, Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, FIIN.

The program featured engaging pep talk session where the participants interacted with industry experts who shared insights from their well of knowledge and experiences as learning points for the participants trained to be masters in the industry as they grow this hosted, Oluwaseun Faturoti, Mrs. Diana Usser-Eke, represented by Leke Samo and Olademeji Olona.

Other Council members who shared insights are, Akinjide Orimolade, The Deputy President of CIIN, Mrs. Adetutu Arusika, Institute Treasurer, Mrs. Funmi Omo, Chairman Education Committee and Dr. (Mrs.) Chizoba Eziogu, Rector, College of Insurance and Financial Management.

Key highlights included comprehensive discussions on mental health awareness by Dr. Babatunde Jesusina, Chief Medical Director, Federal Polytechnic Ilaro.

The medical personnel took participants through the routes of staying healthy and managing stress at work place to avoid physiological distress.

The programme consultant, Nathan Leadgate championed the team break out session where participants were paired into four group; White, Sky Blue, Royal Blue and Black. The teams were assigned topics on insurance value chain and technological innovation (Software Application, tools and devices) after which the first ended with dinner and fun night.

The second day featured paper presentations from various speakers and the group presentation from participants.

The speakers include, Deputy Registrar, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), Gbenga Odetunde, ACIPM, A clinical physiatrist, Mrs. Oredola Kayode-Sanni, Dr. Femi Oladapo, and the Chief Executive Officer, Nathan Leadgate, Dr. Olumuyiwa Oludayo,MCIPM the speakers dealt so well on the theme for the BOOTCAMP with nuggets on how to become masters in a chosen career.

Dr. Olumiyiwa in his words noted that ‘People who grow to success are the ones who retain it, while those who jump to success, only feel successful for a moment’

He admonished the participants to take ladders in their growth as they aim to grow to mastery.

Meanwhile the CIPM Deputy Registrar, Odetunde, spoke on the aspect of office ethics to be exhibited by those who want to be great leaders in their chosen career.

Odetunde stated that younger practitioners should learn carefully from their bosses and develop close mentorship relationship with their mentors so they can learn the office ethics from them as they grow to be masters.

An interactive team-building activities and breakout sessions facilitated by Nathan Leadgate added color to the event.

This featured question and answer sessions as the different teams made their presentations.

The four teams juggled for the first and second position. After a very keen and competitive presentation, team White earned 121 points for the fourth position, team Royal Blue earned 152 points for third position, while team Skye Blue, earned 159 points for second position and team Blacked crowned the champion after earning 163 points.

Some of the participants while speaking with the press expressed their joy for the opportunity gained from the programme.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many describing the event as “life-changing” and “unforgettable.

“BOOTCAMP 5.0 was an incredible experience that provided valuable insights and skills for career growth,” said one participant.

“The program exceeded my expectations and has equipped me with the confidence and knowledge to pursue my goals.

“The CIIN BOOTCAMP 5.0 is a testament to our commitment to empowering individuals for success in their chosen careers,” said Adeleke Adetunji, Head of Corporate Communications at CIIN.

He applauded the Institute Registrar and the management team for the approval granted “We are thrilled with the success of this event and look forward to continuing to provide innovative and engaging programmes for our members and the wider industry,” he submitted.
