The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) has informed young insurance practitioners interested in mentorship scheme, to declare interest with its secretariat so as to be paired with a mentor.

The Deputy President CIIN, Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, said this at the ongoing 2023 Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria mentorship programme – bootcamp 4.0 at College of insurance and Financial Management (CIFM), Asese, Ogun State, noting that as they continue to transition into the Gen-Z era, it is important to recognize the power of mentorship.

While welcoming the young insurance practitioners to the Year 2023 edition of the mentorship programme, tagged bootcamp 4.0, she said the CIIN youth mentorship programme is an annual event organised for the young insurers; adding that it is in furtherance of the institute’s statutory training mandate aimed at mentoring young professionals in the industry to become exemplary leaders as well as equip them with requisite skills for career advancement.

Mrs. Ilori noted that mentorship is a valuable tool that can guide the youth towards achieving their goals and shaping their future in a positive way, stressing that having a mentor can offer them insights, advice, and support throughout their journey.

“The transition to the Gen-Z era can be overwhelming and confusing, as we face different challenges from those of previous generations. However, with the guidance of a mentor, we can navigate through these challenges with more ease and confidence.
To find a mentor, start by identifying your goals and values.

“Look for someone who is knowledgeable and experienced in your area of interest or expertise. It could be someone within your community, or you could reach out to professionals in your field through networking platforms.

“As for many of you who might be interested in the mentorship scheme, do well to declare interest with the secretariat and you will be paired with a mentor,” she posited.

She urged the participants to note that mentorship is a two-way relationship, imploring them to always approach mentorship with an open mind and eagerness to learn and also, be respectful of their mentor’s time and effort in helping them succeed.

She submitted that mentorship is a vital aspect of personal and career development, especially as they transition into the Gen-Z era, urging them to embrace it and allow it to guide them towards a bright and fulfilling future.
