Concerned insurance brokers have called on the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) to quickly intervene in curbing the activities of insurance commission racketeers who are presently making business unbearable for genuine operators.

The concerned operators who spoke with Inspenonline said NAICOM should beam its regulatory light on how broking firms that are relatively unknown and owned by the racketeers are made leaders in businesses they know little or nothing about.

They also said the racketeers are hindering most organisations, especially government related organisations from giving businesses to genuine brokers.

They cited a presently case where a government agency has been without a cover for over a period of four months, because a commission racketeer wants the business ceded to his company.

According to the concerned operators, if the growing nefarious activities of these racketeers are not checked urgently by NAICOM, most genuine brokers may be knocked out of business.

The concerned operators said the racketeers are moving quickly into hijacking robust businesses in government Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and blue chip companies, making it difficult for genuine brokers to operate.

They noted that a Save our Soul (SOS) appeal is being made to NAICOM to ensure the insurance broking business remains afoot
