As the Group Managing Director,Cornerstone Insurance Plc, Ganiyu Musa retires comes July 1, 2023, there are indications that the firm’s Executive Director, Technical Operations, Stephen Alangbo, would take over from him.
Inspenonline findings revealed that Alangbo who joined the company last year, was brought in for the position in line the the firm’s succession plan.
It was gathered that request for his appointment is before the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).
Speaking at the company’s recently held annual general meeting in Lagos, the outgoing group Managing Director told shareholders that the firm has a robust succession plan and that he is leaving the firm in good hands.
Stephen Alangbo is a management insurance leader, well-rounded in all facets of insurance business and has accumulated over 30years quality experience, working with Top Brands within the Insurance sector. As one of the 5 nominees for the African Insurance award of the CEO category of the year 2020 organized by Africa Reinsurance Corporation, Stephen has successfully carved a niche as a Life Insurance Specialist.
He has expertise in key areas such as Risk Management & Compliance, Corporate Governance, Strategic Business Development, Technical Operations, Regulatory bodies’ and Brokers’ relations and Product Design & Development. He was the past Chairman of Life Offices Committee (LOC) of Nigeria Insurers Association (NIA), and was once a council member of NIA.
He has served as Managing Director in various organizations in the insurance industry within and outside Nigeria. One of the Companies he served as Managing Director was recognized by London Stock Exchange as one of ‘The Companies to Inspire Africa in 2019’ based on its high standard of Corporate Governance, year-on-year growth trajectory and ethical business practices. Stephen has undergone various trainings both logically & internationally.
Also, he was once a facilitator at the AIO conference where he spoke on Life Assurance in the West African Region. He has also received several awards for his outstanding performance both in school and after graduation. He obtained his B.Sc.
