The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) gave out palliatives worth over N2 million to some communities and neighbours around its Lagos office to cushion the pains of COVID 19 pandemic on the people.
The palliatives was part of the Council’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the vulnerable and poor citizens who were adversely affected by the government imposed lockdown to fight the spread of coronavirus in Nigeria.
It was a moment of joy for the recipients as bags of rice and other relief materials were handed to them.
The NCRIB President, Mrs. Bola Onigbogi, while appreciating the Federal Government’s efforts to fight the spread of COVID -19, enjoined Nigerians to adhere to the directives and all health advisory issued by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and government with regards to social distancing, hand washing and use of face masks.
She said: “We must all be aware that any infringement of these advice would be tantamount to prolonging the pandemic which would not augur well for us as individuals and as a nation”
Mrs. Onigbogi who was represented by the Council’s Deputy President, Barr. Rotimi Edu, stressed that the Council has continued to be a responsible and responsive institution as it often rise to the challenge of assisting the society through its various Corporate Social Responsibility projects.
“In particular, I am most delighted that aside from rallying members to support insurance industry’s support initiatives to the federal government as being coordinated by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), we are also supporting our immediate neighborhood with this little support to cushion the effect of the pandemic on the people,” she said.
Responding to the gesture, the Chairman, Moleye Community Development Association, Yaba, Alhaji Taiwo Alade Bangbalaappreciated the Council for its generosity and favourabledisposition to the host community, as a responsible corporate entity, stressing that the support would cushion the effect of the pandemic on members of his Community.
He disclosed that the beneficiaries were drawn from over ten communities around the area, promising that they would continue to explore ways to partner with the Council and its membership.
