FG to provide insurance for all assets

The Federal Government through the Ministry of Finance would be meeting with insurance operators to work out plans for provision of insurance for all assets of government.

The Head, Publicity Sub-Committee of the Insurers’ Committee and Managing Director, NSIA Insurance Limited, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu, said this at a press briefing held after the Committee meeting yesterday in Lagos.

She noted that the federal government had expressed willingness to insure all its assets, stressing that insurance operators would be having a meeting with the Ministry of Finance to work out premium payment for the assets.

She noted that the insurance sector operators are excited over government’s concern to insure all its assets.

Mrs. Nwachukwu also spoke on what the industry is doing on third party motor insurance, stressing that a committee has been mandated to look into the appropriateness of N5,000 premium of third party motor insurance. She submitted that the committee is expected to come up with a position which would enable the industry take decision whether to raise the premium.

She said the Committee has also agreed to do more on publicity.
