Ilisan High School wins CIIN’s quiz competition

Ilisan High School, Ogun State, has won the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) secondary schools second edition, quiz competition.

The competition took place today at the Ilisan Town Hall in Ogun State and was attended by dignitaries from all works of life, of which prominent amongst them are the First Lady of the State; Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun; Oba of Ilisan; President CIIN, Sir. Muftau Oyegunle; Tunde Hassan Odukale-Leadway Assurance, Director-General, Mrs. Abimbola Tiamiyu and Rector College of Insurance and Financial Management, Mrs. Yeside Oyeyayo.

Six schools participated in the quiz competition. They are: Al-Lateef College, Isanbi Comprehensive High School; Highbrow College; Isanbi Model College; Dee Unique International School and Ilisan High School.

The 3rd position, went to Isanbi Model College, while
2nd Position, was occupied by Dee Unique International College and Ilisan High School, took the first position.

The Maiden Edition of the quiz competition held in Lagos, at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of Lagos on the 3rd of June 2021.

The next edition of the Secondary School Quiz Competition is slated to hold in October 2021 and the proposed venue is Abuja.

Sir. Oyegunle at the event said
the quiz competition was borne out of the CIIN’s desire to enlighten and introduce young minds to the amazing world of insurance, stressing that the initiative is also aimed at promoting the significance of insurance in our daily lives, community development, poverty alleviation, economic advancement and world peace.

“Insurance ensures that we have adequate safety nets against the misfortunes of life by providing compensation for its customers that enable them to survive the adversities of life. Hence, insurance provides us with a means of protecting ourselves and our families from unexpected but possible financial losses while also enhancing the capacity to build wealth,” he said.

According to him, the competition was designed to create awareness amongst the young adults, who are considered the future of the insurance industry, and to educate the about the importance of Insurance as a service and the career opportunities it offers to students.

Oyegunle noted that the competition was not all about winning but also about having fun while learning more about insurance.
