Lack of necessary infrastructure has been identified for insurers’ inability to wholly underwrite travel insurance.
According to the Accident Office Committee of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), inadequate infrastructure has forced local underwriters to continue to collaborate with foreign health providers in the provision of travel insurance services.
The committee urged insurers to begin to focus attention towards developing the necessary infrastructure to enable them wholly underwrite the policy and maximise the profits therein.
Operators were also urged to abide with the 30 per cent mark, the law mandates them to negotiate with their foreign partners.
