Insurers get Dec 31 deadline to clear outstanding claims

The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has given insurance companies December 31, 2024 deadline to clear all outstanding claims.

The Head, Communication & Stakeholders Management Sub-committee and Managing Director Rex Insurance Limited Mrs. Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu, disclosed this at a press conference held after the Insurers’ Committee meeting today in Lagos.

According to her, the Commissioner for Insurance/ Chief Executive Officer of NAICOM Olusegun Omosehin, charged insurance executives at the event to ensure no outstanding claims is captured in their 2024 financial accounts.

The Commissioner also tasked the executives to defend the insurance industry through payment of genuine claims.

Mrs. Nwachukwu noted that the committee also reconstituted the sub-committees in line with the pillars of 10 year roadmap for the insurance industry.

The new ssu+committee are:

1. Insurance Sector Stability
2. Communication & Stakeholders Management
3. Technology & Talent Management
4. Customer Service & Market Expansion
