The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) today, organised awareness workshop on compulsory insurance for drivers and other road users at Itam Central Park Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State, assuring the public of prompt payment of genuine claims.
The Commissioner for Insurance Sunday Thomas, who was represented at the event by Head, Corporate Communications and Market Development, National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), ‘Rasaaq, Salami, educated the people on benefits of insurance, especially third party motor policy that is required by law for all vehicles plying roads in the country.
He told them that they stand to get up to N3 million for third party liabilities on a premium payment of N15,000.
According to him, other benefits accruing from third party motor insurance include, coverage across West African subregion and avoidance of unnecessary harassment on the road, during an accident.
He enjoined them to patronise registered insurance companies; brokers; agents for genuine motor insurance policies, stressing that there is no claim on fake insurance papers.
He also encouraged them not to be afraid on get their claims, stressing that NAICOM is poised to ensure all genuine claims are paid promptly.
Participants at the workshop were give opportunities to asked questions and all their questions were positively responded to.
NAICOM also donated branded souvenirs to the participants, while some insurance companies present at the event had personal engagements with the participants.
