The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has placed significant premium on prompt settlement of all genuine claims, the Commissioner for Insurance Olusegun Omosehin, has said.
He said this at the 2024 Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) Professionals’ Forum in Abeokuta, Ogun State, adding that he strongly believes that the most appropriate strategy for awareness creation is a complete change of mindset on the administration and settlement of claims, prioritising clients’ needs, treating them fairly, with utmost transparency and timeliness, too.
The Chief Executive Officer of NAICOM, who was represented by the Deputy. Commissioner for Insurance, Finance and Administration Ekerete Ola Gam-Ikon, submitted that the policy thrusts of the Commission’s new administration would thrive on the above priorities which would in turn shape the direction of regulation in the industry.
He said one of the enshrined and fundamental responsibilities of the Commission as a regulator is the protection of policyholders, hence the Commission has placed significant premium on prompt settlement of all genuine claims.
He enjoined all players, professionals, associations to come to the table, bringing their expertise, maximising their differences and building yet again a stronger and better insurance industry, adding that the ability to stand united, focused and resilient would determine how far the industry can go.
