NCRIB-LAC inaugurates insurance clubs in Lagos Secondary schools

The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers Lagos Area Committee (NCRIB-LAC) is taking insurance education to lofty heights through the inauguration of insurance clubs in Secondary Schools in Lagos.

The Chairman Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers Lagos Area Committee Ademola Olutusin, speaking at the inauguration ceremony which held at the Lagos State Ministry of Education, Akoka Lagos, said the initiative would take off in nine schools, while the Area Committee continues its engagement with the government to have the initiative in all secondary schools across the State.

He commended Lagos State for approval of the initiative, stating that it would enhance insurance knowledge among the younger generation.

Olutusin submitted that the Area Committee in partnership with an insurance expert would begin the training of insurance teachers in the state by January 2025.

He also said the Area Committee would print 2,000 copies of past West African Examination Council (WAEC) insurance questions, adding that the printed questions would be within the range of five years.

The NCRIB-LAC Chairman the Area Committee has opened a Whatsapp platform to accommodate all insurance teachers, while imploring insurance teachers across the State to join the platform.

LAC chairman charged the teachers of the nine Schools in attendance to quickly elect their local officials among the students of each school to ensure commencement of insurance Club in the Schools.

He submitted that the second edition of Area Committee Secondary Schools quiz competition would hold in November 2024.

The Public Relations Officer, NCRIB-LAC Dr. Dapo Owoeye, implored insurance teachers in secondary schools to take advantage of the training to enhance their knowledge, whilst urging the students to embrace the club to prepare themselves for the future.

He submitted that club would serve as a link between the students and insurance practitioners, who would leverage the club to educate and expose the students to the world of Insurance.
