The Group Chairman NEM Insurance Plc Tope Smart, has said the company is promoting a healthy workforce to engender good performance and progress.
He disclosed this today at a fitness walk organised by the company in Lagos, adding that no company can achieve its vision without a healthy workforce.
Speaking at the sideline of the event, in which members of staff of the company walked from its head office located at Obanikoro to Maryland and back to the head office, the Chairman submitted that one of the things the firm is doing is ensuring that it has a healthy workforce, that would translate into great productivity.
He noted that though, the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) does observe an annual fitness walk, NEM Insurance compliments the Institute’s efforts through the exercise.
“What we are doing with this exercise is to support the CIIN.
“The fitness exercise has really impacted our operations. No matter how professionally sound a person is, if he or she is not healthy he or she would not be productive. This is why we are very intentional about the exercise and we have an equipped gym in this office which is opened to all staff,” he posited.
He maintained that that aside the promotion of fitness among the employees, the exercise also foster bonding amongst them and upscale human capacity development.
“We are also making significant progress in the area of awareness. As we walk, we tell people about insurance and it’s benefits. He said the company also encourage its branches across the country to embark on similar exercise to educate people living around where they operate,” he said.
