The Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) is holding its 45th Annual General Meeting (AGM) today, Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the Metropolitan Club, kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island Lagos. Time is 11.am.
The association’s Deputy Chairman and Managing Director Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc, Eddie Efekoha, will be crowned the Chairman at the event.
Efekoha is a Fellow of both the Chartered Insurance Institutes of London and Nigeria and also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Insurance and a Masters degree in Business Administration both from the University of Lagos.
Eddie commenced his insurance career as a broker where he rose to the position of Senior Staff in Hogg Robinson Nigeria, Executive Director Technical in Glanvill Enthoven & Co (Nig.) and founding Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fountain Insurance Brokers Ltd in 1997. As a turnaround expert, Eddie and his partners acquired the defunct Metropolitan Trust Insurance Company Limited in 2003 and renamed it Consolidated Risk Insurers Plc. He was thereafter appointed the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Company in the same year.
In 2007 following the government induced consolidation in the insurance industry, Consolidated Risk Insurers Plc merged with Hallmark Assurance Plc and Nigerian General Insurance Company Ltd to form Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc and retained his position as the Chief Executive Officer.
Consolidated Hallmark under his direction, has significantly grown its revenue base over the years and has since diversified into other aspects of financial service through the establishment of a subsidiary- Grand Treasurers Limited (GTL), a Finance House Company fully licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria. He is a Director in several companies.
Mr Efekoha is an alumnus of both Lagos and Harvard Business Schools, a member of the Governing Council and Treasurer of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, an insurance trainer with specialization in property and engineering insurances and the newly sworn-in Chairman of theNigerian Insurers Association (NIA).
He is a devoted Christian, a founding member of the Catholic Church of the Resurrection Magodo, he is an active member of the Catholic Men Organisation in the Church.
As an ardent golfer, Mr. Efekoha is a member of the Ikeja Golf Club, Ikoyi Club 1938 and the IBB Golf Club Abuja.
Efekoha is happily married to Oghenenyoreh and their marriage is blessed with three daughters.
