Old Mutual offers free financial education to over 15,000 persons

Old Mutual Insurance has in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative has offered free financial education to over 15,000 individuals.

A statement by the firm’s Customer Experience Manager, Rachel Millar-Jaja, said the company believes that with greater financial knowledge individuals are better equipped to make sound financial decisions that will impact positively on their lives.

She noted that as a responsible business, Old Mutual is committed to affecting its communities positively and enabling positive futures for its stakeholders by offering free financial education to staff of organisations and members of social groups.

“Using the very popular story of the Big Five Animals found on Safari’s in Africa, participants are taken through five principles that represent the survival secrets of each of these animals – Savings, Financial Vision, Budgeting & Planning, Investment and Debt Management.

“The workshop is designed to impart knowledge on simple money management habits which will help the beneficiaries thrive by enabling them to achieve their lifetime financial goals.

“To date, Old Mutual has trained over 15,000 individuals on Financial Education. In the month of March 2018, the organization has held workshops at the Bureau of Service Matters, (Office of Head of Service) Abeokuta, Ogun State, Globacom, United Parcel Service (UPS), Nasrul-lahi-li FathiSociety of Nigeria (NASFAT) Ikotun/Isheri Branch, Lagos, Honeywell Flour Mills Plc, Jobberman, amongst others.Furthermore, a 3-day Workshop was held between the 26-28 of March 2018, at the American University of Nigeria, Yola,” she said.

Millar-Jaja, noted that the firm plans to reach over 10,000 people in 2018, adding that the firm has continued to partner with various organisations both in the public and private sector and across the country with positive feedback and results.
