The prestigious Jericho Businessmen Club (JBC) of illustrious and distinguished sons of Ibadanland will hold a special retreat on September 18th to 20th, at Bayse One Hotel, Jericho Road, GRA, Ibadan. The theme of the retreat is Human Capital Advantage For The Development Of Ibadanland.
The retreat, which will be attended by JBC members from the public and private sectors, will feature Prof. Pat Utomi, a director of Lagos Business School and founder of Centre for Value Leadership (CVL), speaking at the business gathering. Also speaking is Dr. Biodun Adedipe, a financial and management consultant.
The Jericho Businessmen Club (JBC) was founded in September, 2000 with members made up of professionals, technocrats and businessmen engaged in the various sectors of the Nigerian economy as well as in diaspora. Since 2000 till date, the membership roll call of the Club has grown significantly, and so is its contributions to the development of Nigeria and Ibadanland in particular.
Aside the expected glamour and camaraderie given the Club of the Who is Who in Ibadan, the retreat is a common-ground and avenue for the true sons of Ibadan to chart a new course for the city and the nation in general.
The formidable and prominent businessmen club of Ibadan indigenes both home and abroad had in the past produced a Federal Cabinet Minister, Mr. Waheed Remi Babalola; currently a Deputy Central Bank Governor, Chief Bayo Adelabu and First Bank Group Managing Director designate, Adesola Adeduntan. The highly respectable group also parades captains of industries, private businessmen and other notable members of the community.
According to Mr. Bayo Olugbemi, MD/CEO First Registrar and JBC President, the retreat aligns with one of our cardinal objectives: “to express love for our motherland and seek greater good for the people of Ibadan.”
He further stated that members will brainstorm on several strategic ways to empower Ibadan people, especially the youth who form a sizeable segment of the nation’s population. “We are highly optimistic of a successful outcome of our retreat, and we are expecting useful and valuable dialogue from our members throughout the retreat,” noted Kayode Taiwo, a Director at FIRS and Chairman of the Retreat Planning Committee.
JBC is a prominent and leading member of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), an umbrella body of all socio-economic groups in Ibadan. The City of Ibadan is noted for playing a pioneering role as the most influential city in Africa.
