Sequel to the ultimatum on the integration of the motor third party system with the Nigerian Insurance Industry Portal ( NIIP), issued by Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), which is within the window period, March 1 to May 31, 2024, the Director-General, Retail Insured Family Association of Nigerian (RIFAN) Ali Theophilus, has expressed worries over lack of adequate awareness on the subject and therefore plead for extension of the deadline to give room for wider education and provide avenue for relevant stakeholders to be carried along.

Ali in a statement said it is imperative to give accolades to the NIA, for the mind blowing initiative. stating that as matter of fact, the project is one of the best innovative technologies that has been experienced in the industry in the recent time.

The importance of the NIIP, he said can’t be over emphasized, stressing that it would address issues of rate cutting; ameliorates unhealthy competition in the industry; returns more premium to the industry purse and make settlement of claims easy.

“Be that as it may, I’m of the opinion that for the initiative to be more productive and effective, all the relevant stakeholders in the industry, should be educated, informed and sensitized properly to avoid giving room for some fake agents in the industry which have been like cankerworm that has fabricated into the industry to take advantage of the shallow knowledge of the development that ordinarily meant well.

“On the aforementioned stance, I on behalf of the entire Retail Insured Family Association of Nigeria, the largest Insurer Consumer Community in Nigeria, whose sole aim is to restore insured confidence, protecting of Policyholder’s public interest and improving their trust on the sector, want to use this medium to show our readiness to partner with NIA to make the industry a save haven for both insurer and the insured consecutively. Therein appeal that let no loopholes be created for these cooperative insurance to spring up as many signals are already coming to my table on their anticidents,” he posited.

He congratulated the newly appointed Commissioner for NAICOM Olusegun Omosehin and other appointees, as well as the new Director-General of NIA, wishing them a successful careers and wisdom to discharge their duties effectively.
