Uniqueness of insurance claims: Why insured, insurer pray against it

Chuks Udo Okonta

Insurance claim is a unique concept, which the insurer and insured pray it should not occur, owing to discomfort associated with it.

Claims arise when an insured suffers a risk insured against. Though the claims payment can soothe the pains of the insured and restore him to his/her state before the risk. The insured would have been much happier if the risks didn’t occur.

Premium and claims connect the insurer and insured together, as the insured is expected to pay premium to the insurer in an anticipation of claims when risk happens, both parties on a daily basis pray that claims shouldn’t come.

For the insurer, his business would continue to thrive if he didn’t incur any claim, while the insured prays that he would not suffer any loss, which would slow down his progress.

The greatest beneficiary of the prayers offered by both parties, is the insurer who received premium from the insured.

While the insured prays regularly for divine protection of his life and properties, he is indirectly praying against receiving claims, for there can’t be claims settlement when risks didn’t happen.

As no reasonable person would wish his or herself evil, people who complain that they have being insuring without making a claim, should note that they are responsible for that through their prayers.

As a donor of insurance policies through the Insurfeel Initiative, I have received several questions from beneficiaries on how to claim the sum assured on their covers.

While donating policies to the uninsured and uninformed, we inform them that the covers can only be activated when they suffer a loss.

We also inform them that though we don’t wish them evil, but risks come unannounced.

Since you now know that your answered prayers are responsible for your non claims condition, you should stop complaining of not having claims and continue to insure and pray for both of them are necessary if you desire a peaceful and comfortable life.
