Why beneficiaries of insurance claims should tell others

The insurance industry paid N536.5 billion claims in year 2023 and many people are still in doubt that insurers pay claims.

Irrespective of the efforts made by insurance and media practitioners to project huge claims paid yearly by underwriters, unless claims beneficiaries begin to speak out, many would not still believe that claims are paid.

A farmer, Tony Kaka, has been farming for years not knowing that his farm can be insured against flood.

While he was having a discussion with a friend on plans to expand his farm, his friend, who had benefited from insurance claims told him about insurance. He was afraid though, having heard negative tales about insurance.

His friend narrated his ordeal and how insurance came to his rescue when he suffered a lost.

Kaka then concerted to his friend’s admonition and was introduced to an insurance broker who helped packaged crop insurance for him.

While Kaka was looking forward to harvesting his crops, the farm was taken over by flood and all the crops were submerged in water.

Kaka remembered that he bought insurance and reached out to the broker, who told him what to do so as to effectively report the risk.

Kaka was asked to submit all relevant documents for the processing of the claims which he did.

Having submitted the documents, he was still sceptical whether the claims would be paid as the claims process was ongoing.

His doubt was abated, when the insurance company sent him an offer and later his account and the claims was paid to his amusement.

Kaka is now one of the insurance claims payment beneficiaries and is happy due to the information provided by his friend.

Many people who suffer lost and are today seeking help, would have been restated to life and business, if their friends, neighbours; colleagues who have benefited from insurance had told them the benefits of insurance.

Don’t just rejoice when your claims are paid, tell other people so that they too can mitigate their risks through insurance.
