It is indeed a pleasure to join the MD of our Company to welcome you all to this Public Lecture on Financial Services Sector in the Next Decade organised in commemoration of 10th Anniversary Lecture of Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc.
I will like to extend a very warm welcome to Dr. Andrew Nevin, who is the Financial Services Advisory Leader and Chief Economist at PwC Nigeria and global co-leader of PwC’s global financial services Project Blue framework. Your acceptance of our invitation to be the lead speaker is most graciously acknowledged.
I will like to also extend a warm welcome to our distinguished panel of discussants; Mr Ganiyu Musa – Group MD Cornerstone Insurance Plc, Mr Kola Ayeye – Executive Director AMCON and Mr Ayo Bammeke – Group General Manager, Group Risk Management and Insurance NNPC. Your presence here today is of great significance to us.
My appreciation also goes to you all, distinguished guests who have beaten the odds of Lagos to be with us today. Thank you all for accepting our invitation.
A lecture of this nature is absolutely necessary, especially against the backdrop of various challenges that have bedevilled the development of the local economy, challenges which the sector has a key role to play in offering practical solutions.
The Financial Services in Nigeria is no doubt saddled with the responsibility of providing the fulcrum not only for economic growth but the development of the larger society. How well the sector has been able to deliver on these in the last decade thus forms the background of our preparations for our role in the next decade. The topic of the lecture – Financial Services in the Next Decade therefore aims at x-raying the whole gamut of the sector from banking, Insurance, Consumer perspective – as well as highlighting regulatory developments that are shaping and impacting our businesses.
Insurance is a tool which absorbs risks from individuals and corporates while at the same time helping to underpin stability and stimulate economic growth. Insurance is, therefore, more relevant today than ever before.
Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc, like many others have undergone strategic changes to remain relevant and most importantly fulfil our obligations to our customers and indeed other stakeholders. Going into the future we are investing heavily in our technology, people and processes so that we can offer better services to our customers.
I am pleased at this juncture to declare this public lecture organized to commemorate Consolidated Hallmark Insurance 10th Year Anniversary open. My wish is that you will enjoy the lecture and learn something new that would help you and your business through the next decade.
Thank you for your attention.
Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc
