Lagos State pays N821.56m accrued pension rights to 297 retirees

Lagos State Government has presented Retirement Benefit Bond Certificates (RBBC) worth Eight Hundred and Twenty-One Million, Fivehundred and Sixty-One Thousand, Four Hundred and Thirty-Six Naira and Three kobo (N821,561,436.03) to 297 public service retirees.

A statement by the Public Affairs Officer, Lagos Pension Commission (LASPEC), Mrs Ajoke Lawal, noted that whilst welcoming the retirees at the 63rd Retirement Benefit Bond Presentation Ceremony on Friday, 7th June 2019 at NECA House Auditorium, Ikeja, Lagos, the Director-General, LASPEC, Mrs Folasade Onanuga expatiated on the two benefit options available under the Contributory Pension Scheme dispensation.

She assured the retirees that the Government’s interest in the well being of retirees is paramount. She reiterated the fact that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Oluis an establishment person having served previously in many capacities in the State and was once the commissioner in charge of the Ministry of Establishments and Pensions.
She enjoined all the beneficiaries to take very good care of their health and physical being as well as desist from frivolous spending.

One of the retirees; O. Abayomi from Local Government appreciated the State Government on behalf of his fellow retirees for the continuity on payment of accrued Pension Rights and prayed for the management of Lagos State Pension Commission.
