All is now set for the 2025 Annual General Meeting of the West African Insurance Companies Association (WAICA) which will start this weekend in Freetown, Sierra Leone with over 120 foreign delegates coming from across Africa, Asia and Europe.
WAICA Secretary General and Chief Executive Officer, Davis Iyasere, stated that he renewed interest in WAICA programmes is a vote of confidence on the association and it marks a significant shift in participation in WAICA events.
“There is also renewed interest from sponsors who are now eager to identify with the WAICA brand as most local and foreign reinsurers continue to identify with the subregional association”.
He enthused. The theme of the conference which will take place from 4 – 6 May, 2025 at Radisson Blu, Hotel, Freetown, is: Battling Financial Crimes in West Africa: The Role of Insurers.
The paper will be delivered by the Director-General of Finance Intelligence Agency, Republic of Sierra Leone, David Borbon. While the Managing Director of Orange Mobile Money, David Mansaray will take the second paper on Mobile Money and insurance partnerships in West Africa.
The second day will feature papers on leadership development, building a customer centric insurance industry and dealing with mental stress in the workplace.
A major highlight of this year’s Annual general meeting will be the election of Solomon Anthony Sesay, Managing Director of Reliance Trust Insurance Corporation (RITCORP), Freetown as the President of the subregional body for another one year.
