The Association of Registered Insurance Agents of Nigeria (ARIAN) has announced a strategic initiative aimed at eliminating fake insurance agents across the country.

This resolution was reached during the recent National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Association, held to address the growing concerns around fraudulent intermediaries undermining public trust in insurance services.

Speaking at the meeting, President of ARIAN, Mayowa Olatubosun, emphasized the Association’s commitment to working closely with regulatory bodies, licensed insurance companies and other industry stakeholders to identify and remove unlicensed agents from the system.

“This initiative is not just about enforcement; it’s about restoring confidence in the insurance sector.

“We are rolling out a circular to all insurance companies to ensure full compliance and cooperation. Our goal is to protect policyholders and deepen insurance penetration nationwide,” said Olatubosun.

The planned action will include:Verification of agent credentials; public awareness campaigns; collaboration with NAICOM and other regulators and sanctions for companies enabling fake agents.

ARIAN believes this effort will significantly reduce fraudulent activities, protect consumers from exploitation and foster a more transparent and professional insurance environment.

The Association calls on all stakeholders to support this initiative and uphold the integrity of the industry.
