The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) has recorded a significant milestone in its insurance penetration drive, following the conferment of an honorary citizenship on its President, Mrs. Ekeoma Ezeibe, by the Evoh Kingdom in Rivers State.
The honour was bestowed by His Royal Majesty, King Amb. Sir Leslie N. Eke, the Gbakagbaka III of Evoh Kingdom, during a courtesy visit by an NCRIB delegation to his palace.
A Rare Recognition
Speaking during the ceremony, the first-class monarch disclosed that the kingdom has conferred this specific honour on only three distinguished Nigerians to date, with Mrs. Ezeibe being the latest recipient.
The King noted that the honour grants the NCRIB President full rights and privileges as a citizen of the kingdom, citing her “sterling feats” and professional distinctions in the fields of Insurance and Law.
Driving the “One Insurance Industry” Mantra
The monarch expressed strong support for Mrs. Ezeibe’s “One Insurance Industry” leadership mantra, pledging to make it a primary driver for insurance awareness within his domain.

“With 33 communities and the largest market in this area, we are committed to making insurance penetration a reality,” the King stated.
He further noted that the initiative is expected to kick off within the next few months to sustain the current momentum. King Leslie notably serves as a Brand Ambassador for the NCRIB South-South Area Committee.
Expansion Plans and NIIRA 2025
In her response, Mrs. Ezeibe thanked the traditional ruler for the gesture and announced that a committee drawn from the Council’s South-South Area Committee would be constituted to drive Microinsurance and other products within the kingdom.
Key highlights from her address included:
Pilot Scheme: Abia State has been designated as the pilot project for the Council’s national insurance penetration scheme.
National Rollout: Plans are underway to capture all states under the scheme to boost industry figures.
Regulatory Support: She emphasized that the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA 2025) offers immense opportunities for risk management and urged citizens to leverage the law to mitigate losses to lives and property.
The NCRIB’s aggressive grassroots campaign is designed to complement the provisions of the NIIRA 2025 and bridge the insurance gap across Nigeria’s diverse regions.
