New Commissioner for Insurance to resume after swearing in of NAICOM’s board

Activities in the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and the insurance industry seemed calm this morning as all eyes are looking forward the swearing in of the board of the Commission, which will pave way for the resumption of the Commissioner and his deputies.

Inspenonline gathered that the former Commissioner for Insurance Sunday Thomas non the newly appointed Commissioner Olusegun Omosehin is in the saddle steering affairs of NAICOM this morning.

It was gathered that employees of NAICOM are waiting for directives from the Federal Government to know the next state of affairs in the Commission.

President Bola Tinubu had on Friday, April 19, 2024, appointed Olusegun Ayo Omosehin as Commissioner for Insurance/Chief Executive Officer National Insurance Commission (NAICOM)

President Tinubu also approved the appointment of
Ms. Halima Kyari — Chairperson of the Commission.

Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, was name Commissioner for Insurance; Olawoye Gam-Ikon – Deputy Commissioner (Technical Operations); Dr. Usman Ankara Jimada — Deputy Commissioner (Finance & Administration);
Dr. Miriam Kene Kachikwu — Member; Adeniyi Olusegun Fabikun — Member and Umar Khalifa Mohammed — Member

This was contained in a statement issued by Special Adviser to the President Media & Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale.

He said the President expects the new Board of the National Insurance Commission to exercise utmost probity as it leads the commission in ensuring a safe, sound, and stable insurance sector, while protecting policyholders, the public interest, and improving trust and confidence in the sector.
