Members of Risk, Audit & Compliance Committee (RACC) of the Nigeria Insurers Association (NIA) have been tasked to institute actionable plans to strengthen governance and drive values in their organisations.

The Chairman of RACC and Group Head of Internal Audit, Continental Reinsurance Olugbenga Akinlalu, said this at the recently held retreat organised by the Committee in Abeokuta, Ogun State, stating that it is heartwarming to see
professionals, united by a shared commitment to the growth and transformation of the insurance industry.

He submitted that the retreat theme – “Insurance Industry Recapitalisation: Strengthening Governance for Maximal Benefits” – could not be more timely,
as recapitalisation presents both a challenge and an opportunity, adding that it is a clarion call for RACC members, as assurance professionals, to rise to the occasion, sharpen their tools and position ourselves as catalysts for governance excellence.

“This retreat is more than just a conference. It is a platform for deep learning, robust dialogue, strategic networking, and professional renewal,” he submitted.

He noted that as RACC members stand on the brink of a redefined insurance landscape, the question before them is simple but profound: “Are we prepared to be relevant, impactful, and governance-driven in the post-recapitalisation era?”

He appreciated sponsors such as DataPro Limited; NEM Insurance, Sovereign Trust Insurance; Linkage Assurance; Continental Reinsurance; AIICO Insurance Plc; Stanbic IBTC Insurance; Cornerstone Insurance Plc; Regency Alliance, AxaMansard Insurance; Leadway Assurance & NEM Insurance, Heirs Insurance Group & REX Insurance Limited; Perfect Synergy Professional Services Limited and Vicosbin Consult Limited.

“To the RACC members that facilitated this sponsorship in their respective companies. You are the best.

“Your support has been instrumental in making the vision of a more improved Retreat a reality, and we are sincerely grateful,” said.

He also expressed heartfelt appreciation to the NIA Governing Council, led by Kunle Ahmed, for their unwavering support.
