NCRIB President Mrs. Ekeoma Ezeibe unveils One Insurance Industry as thrust of office

The newly elected President of Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) Mrs. Ekeoma Ezeibe, has unveiled ‘One Insurance Industry’ as her thrust of office.

She disclosed this today at a press conference in Lagos, stating that the trust of office – One Insurance Industry consist five key components which are: Deepening Insurance penetration, completion of Olola Olabode Ogunlana House; having a good relationship with the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM); capacity building for brokers; mentorship for young brokers and collaboration with necessary stakeholders.

She noted that focusing on one insurance industry as a key driver would help put the sector in its rightful place in the economy of Nigeria.

“When we talk about the insurance industry, it means that we have already realized that we really need something for the consumer, especially insurance brokers. We are the people that reach out to the consumers; this is our responsibility to do so. It is our responsibility to go out there and take advantage of the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act NIIRA (2025),” she said.

According to her the industry needs contributions from brokers: media; loss adjuster; underwriters; policyholders and NAICOM to attain necessary progress.

She submitted that to deepen insurance penetration, her administration would adopt Abia State as a pilot scheme to take insurance to the uninsured and uninformed.

She said her administration would work with the government of Abia State to ensure insurance is well entrenched in the state.

According to her, having entrenched insurance in Abia State, her administration’s campaign train would move to the northern part of Nigeria where insurance awareness is still relatively low, stressing that deepening insurance penetration would be do strategically on a state per time.

Mrs. Ezeibe submitted that her team would build on the legacies laid down by her predecessors and founding fathers of the NCRIB, stressing that the cordial and robust relationships with NAICOM and other arms of the industry would be sustained and enhanced.

She said brokers – big and small would be empowered to enable them expand and enhance their contributions to the sector and by extension the economy.

The NCRIB boss stated that the society also would be greatly impacted through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), noting that the insurance industry can only do better when the society is happy with its operations.

She called on all stakeholders to join hands with her administration in taking the insurance industry to lofty heights, stressing that the economy would benefit greatly from a thriving insurance sector.
