Old Mutual shares jump 11% on potential break-up

The price of Old Mutual shares has jumped by 11 per cent in initial London trading and by 12 per cent in Johannesburg.

News broke over the weekend that the company was considering whether to break up into its four constituent parts, which include an asset manager and an African financial services business.

The Anglo-South African insurance company announced this morning that it had not yet made a decision on but was considering all options in its strategic review.

The company also said that it would provide an update on Friday when it will also publish the first version of its 2015 full year results.
